Despite two recent major upheavals, a major civic war (in which 40,000 people died) and Hurricane Mitch, 670 families grow coffee at the Haciendo El Cielo Estate in central Nicaragua. Managed by the Cerna Family for the past 30 years, one third of the land is dedicated to coffee and the other two thirds remains as wild forest.
