The Huye District in Rwanda’s southern highlands is a place where coffee is woven into daily life. Fertile volcanic soils, cool nights, and the dedication of smallholder farmers - many of whom cultivate just a few hundred trees each - come together to produce beans of remarkable quality.
This lot comes through a cooperative that pools the harvests of local families, ensuring consistent quality while guaranteeing farmers a fair return for their work. Beyond better incomes, Fairtrade premiums support community projects such as schools, health services, and agricultural training - investments that strengthen both the people and the coffee.
We’ve profiled this coffee to a medium-dark roast to highlight its chocolate, caramel, and spice character, while still allowing dried fruit and floral notes to shine through. The result is a cup that balances Rwanda’s signature elegance with comforting depth - whether brewed as a full-bodied filter or a smooth, chocolate-forward espresso.
