Dark Roast


Strong tasting coffees are traditionally characterised by dark and oily surfaces.  The coffee beans, having passed through second crack, have developed a sheen to their surface.  The sugars are beginning to caramelize as the coffee continues to expand and lose mass.  Dark roasts are favoured for their strength and do not highlight the subtle and distinct nuances of lighter roast levels.
